Bread and Butter Pickles. (Joyce Sears)
10 cucumbers
6 average onions
1/2 cup salt
4 cups vinegar
1 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric powder
3 & 1/2 cups sugar
Wash, dry and slice cucumbers and onions. Sprinkle salt between layers and let stand 2 hours, then drain. Bring the vinegar, sugar and remaining ingredients to boiling point. Put in cucumbers and onions and cook slowly for approximately 10 minutes, then bottle.
